Alaa Aroog from Sinai Peninsula, Egypt

Alaa is a social activist and holds a Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in Business Administration, from Al-Arish University in 2023. Alaa is currently working as Project coordinator at the Mediterranean Youth Foundation for Development – MYF.

Over the past three years, I had s participated in a series of capacity building programs in the areas of sustainable development and climate change. I got the opportunity to work on several programs at the Mediterranean Youth Foundation, Mediterranean Women’s Ship and the Mediterranean Youth Academy, life skills and migration in programs funded by the European Union and international organizations. I also had an exceptional opportunity to participate in a cultural exchange program in Cyprus, which made me the first woman n her tribe to travel outside the country, given the social restrictions imposed on women in my community.

Ahlam Abu Ali from Jordan

I’m Ahlam Abu Ali from Jordan, a dedicated professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s degree in Gender Studies from the University of Jordan. Over the past 13 years, I’ve been honored to serve as a social worker for the Jordanian Ministry of Social Development, where I’ve had the privilege of working closely with communities to address social challenges and uplift individuals in need.

Beyond my professional endeavors, I’m deeply committed to volunteer work, particularly with refugees and newcomers in Canada, especially focusing on supporting women who have experienced trauma. I actively engage in workshops and volunteer initiatives aimed at providing empowerment and assistance to marginalized groups, reflecting my passion for social justice and humanitarian causes.
As a proud member of non-profit organizations such as “Nama’a” and the Sanabel Autism Association, I contribute to youth and women development efforts, as well as assisting families with autistic children. My diverse experiences and unwavering dedication underscore my profound interest in youth, gender, and philanthropy, shaping a meaningful and impactful career devoted to fostering positive social change.

Preliminary Program

Days: 1-4 ,

10:00-12:00: Engage in study visits and prototyping sessions with local youth and culture organizations 

13:00-15:00: Participate in public activities recorded for online dissemination (round tables, dialogues, interviews, debates)

16:00 – 18.00: Join open workshops

20:00-22:00: Experience informal socializing through film club nights, board game nights, girls’ talk sessions, and brainstorm pits-an opportunity to have a profound impact on participants.

Days 5-6,

Collaboratively craft the manifesto

Day 7,

Attend the public pen event and the vernissage.

Volunteers and participants will be staying in ProQvi learning center in Hästveda between 14 May to 4 June (the first three weeks) during the project.
